My '05 has 24,000 on her now with no problems (changed out exciter at 11k), but no other "concerns". There are easy "preventative" things you can do if your bored on the weekends (like me). I put her on the jack, remove seats, tank, battery (place on "trickle"), remove, clean, and lube speedo cable (from bottom), and clutch cables, remove, clean and lube all fuses and re-install, clean and lube all electrical connectors, plug wires, plugs, etc...scrape 2 pounds of grease from sprocket cover, etc....there's hours of things to tinker with....she has a way to show her appreciation, which is the best part...
