I did a search of the forums and didn't find anthing on the subject...so I hope I'm not beating a dead horse. Anyways, I was wondering what a person can do to lower a Speedmaster. Are there kits that can be purchased? or is there any way of doing it without paying an arm and a leg? thanks!

Lowering is not a big deal. New shorter shocks out back and shorter springs in the front is probably the most accepted route to go. (with a definite improvement in ride and handling) Here's a link to the Tech vault with some part numbers. Contact either brent at newspeedmaster or fasteddy for prices and availablity.

The cheapest way is probably to remove some seat foam. I know Paula (ATriumphGoddess) has done this mod.

You need to talk to member Paula(ATriumphGoddess).
She is petite, and has done some things to make her
pretty bonnie fit her small stature better.

I lowered Wendys bike for her she is 5'1". I bough lower shocks from Bella Course. They were the Hagons and she likes them. I lowered the back end of her bike 2" but left the front stock. I lowered the front at one point but it scraped the ground too easily so I put it back.had a few clearance issues though, had to cut the front of the chain guard back to clear the frame when the shocks compress and the one ear on the freak bracket so the chain would clear it. I also fitted floor boards so she had a more comfortable seating position,I also adjusted the gear shift closer to her same with the break pedal.

I had actually thought about taking some foam out of the seat...maybe I will do that. Otherwise thanks for the info on the shocks...I will look into that as well. Yota...I have to admit I got a good laugh outta that one!

Check with some of the bike shops in your area... there may be an upholstery shop that does this. But ask if they have any names of customers, you do want to see their work first. I don't know about your seat, but don't just go cutting. sometimes there's different densities of foam. I made the mistake of shaving the seat on my Yamaha FJR... it looked just fine and felt great... for about 10 minutes. I shaved off the dense foam and left the squoogy stuff... was like sitting on a board!  Mary
