How are you storing your bikes this upcoming winter ??? Fogging them with ? in the garage ? ... Covering them with ? ... Building an insulated surrounding ...
I personaly have been storing my bikes at third party places the past x years ... I have a buddy that took those 4x8 sheets of insulation foam and built a ? box that surrounds the bike .. He keeps a ? 60 watt bulb buring in there all winter ... Keeps it nice and toasty in there I guess ...

Storing my bike! No way! Fall/Winter is the best time to get out there and ride.. nice and cool.. Oh, what's that, you don't live in Florida.. Never mind

When it's not raining here in the NW I ride, that's the best way to winterize your bike. When it rains for 40 days and 40 nights (yes, it does happen) I hook up a battery tender,add some fuel stabilizer and check the air pressure every two weeks or so. It's always stored in the garage.

Rain or shine, ride every day it doesn't snow. If you don't have Gerbing gear, get some! Electric gloves and socks make winter riding much, much more comfortable. Just watch out for sucking down the battery if you can't keep it above about 2500 rpm with the gear on. My retro-paddock jacket does great with the liner in until ambient drops below 20f.

I am in NJ it gets pretty cold over here. I do not winterize my bike; but the best thing to do is fill the gas tank up all the way (add some staybil if your not going to start it or ride it). You can disconnect the battery and take it inside or hook up a battery tender to it on a trickle or just go out a start it up once in a while (this will not cause condensation like some say). good luck!!

How do you "winterize" a motorcycle? If it gets to cold to ride or if it snows, park it in the house.

Whilst watching some roadracing last weekend there was a stall selling "storage bags" for bikes, a huge heavy gauge plastic bag. You wheel your bike in gather the neck of the bag together and connect it to a valve that you connect your vacuum cleaner to and suck out all the air therefor keeping the bike in a stable dry environment.
One of those ideas that is ..... a bit eeermm.... not sure really but it could work in theory as long as you've drained fluids!!

I've seen a similar thing but different .. 
The bag is filled with air and is temp / moisture controlled. Or something.
I think it's for the type of person with more money than sence who have several EXPENSIVE motors but never use 'em!

I generally keep my bike rideable throughout winter, but add Stabil at the first snowfall. If you aren't going to use the gas in 6 weeks or so, it's time to add Stabil (Walmart). I also plug in the Battery Tender in December. I'm still on my OEM battery with 13k miles so it must be working.

To winterize my bike, I zip the liner in my jacket and dig out my gloves and scarf.

With winter lasting the best part of a whole Week here in Southeast Tennessee. My winterizing routine is as follows. I close the garage door.

To hot, any time between April and October. May/June/July/Aug/Sept..bugger me its hot.
To cold, let me see.....Last year January 27 was a brit brisk. Had to put a jumper on.
Wet, Its raining today......hooray, my lawn is gasping for a drink.
Adey, in the 12 years Ive been living here, I can remember two snow storms bad enough that I stayed home rather then go out. Most years the temp doesnt get below 0 for more than a few days. Summer here kills me, but the winter isn't to bad at all. Last time I came back to the UK i came during December. Froze my nuts off. January and February are probably the only two months when I dont drive with the AC on.

Not quite yet
However I do have this little project ongoing subject to funds at the moment.
You'll notice it doesn't have a chimney yet but as a long term project in the middle of Assynt its going to keep me going well into my 40's!

We had friends over from NH a couple of years ago. They just wandered about with there jaws wide open.....then because it was late July the midges found us and they realised why no-one lives up there! eaten alive within 5 minutes.
I love it up there, spent a good deal of my childhood holidays running wild there-a-bouts......well you had to if the wind died down. Only the very brave or lucky can walk or stand still.

There is a scattering of houses and crofts nearby but mosy have two foot thick walls so you don't hear a thing. nearest fair sized place is Ullapool and thats 18 miles away. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA...wee biting scottish midges...I've lived in the Yukon and the mosquitos there are the size of eagles! They've been known to carry off small children that were left unprotected....and when they swarm, well, I've heard stories that would curl your hair, boys...full grown men sucked dry faster than a turboed America...I was hunting moose one year and I heard voices saying "You boys want to eat him here or take him back into the bush?" Well, I investigated and found myself in a clearing watching 4 skeeters the size of wolves gathered around a dead moose. I kept real quiet, and finally one of 'em says "we better eat him here...if we take him back in the bush, the big boys will take him away on us!"

Grip- are there any similar places nearby for sale? I'm looking for a croft about that size-we spent 6 months in that area 7 years ago and cannot wait to get back permanently.

I did not want to be the smart a$$ that said this but it is the same for me. And boy do I get upset in that week when the temp drops to a chilly 13 degree Celsius = 55.4 degree Fahrenheit and only warms up to around 15 degree Celsius = 59 degree Fahrenheit at midday. Man life is hard here in winter

i just found this thread, awesome pics grip ,ullapool jeez i havent been up thata way for 25 years. i did a lot of hitch hiken back then my fav area of scotland is up around gairloch spectacular views especially around august and the meteor showers (gawdamhamesiksoaum) ,so where would i be lookin on the map for the location of your wee butnben

one nice thing about the south, we summerize our bikes ... IE if it's too hot we don't ride but when the winter rolls around we hop on!

Winter what is that. It dropped down to 12 degrees C here last winter. I had to run around and find a long sleve shirt. Bloody hot here now though, no rain for three months and we a hoping for a wet season. Merry Xmas
