My dealer installed a tach and now there is a thick wire hareness and connected sticking out of the left side front of gas tank. Looks terrible, I can't figure out how to re-route this hareness. There seems to be no way. The bare wires and plug are showing. Anyone have the same issue?

Post a pic so we can see it?

Yet, to clean it up: Remove the pillion, saddle, tank console and tank. Be sure to disconnect the fuel line and remember the tank vent line. Then obtain some of those plastic ties that rachet onto themselves and use those to position the wires the dealer left in a state of disarray.

For example,

OK wrong side, try this side:

Take a digital one. Put it on your hard drive, Log on, then go to the PhotoPost section click on Upload Photos. Select a category, then select browse and point to where the photo is on your hard drive. That will place it in your gallery. Then view the picture from within your gallery, right click on it select properties and copy the location. When posting in the forums, paste that location within the UBB code and walla the image is in your post.

Right. Just get it in your gallery then we'll talk!

I hope the dealer didn't charge you for that install - if so, print that pic out on a BIG piece of paper, glue it to a board, and slap him with it.

What you can see sticking out there is what was already tucked up under your console from the factory, they've just been too lazy to fiddle it back into position so it doesn't show. Undo the 3 screws holding the console onto the tank, lift the console, and tuck the plug & harness up into the side of the console beside (or in front of) the tacho. Make sure none of it's sitting below the tacho, or it'll try to push out of the console. Then carefully replace the console and it's 3 screws making sure the harness stays where it belongs. It's a bit fiddly but not too hard.

Thanks Matt!
I had the console off but wasn't sure it was suppose to go under the console. It didn't seem like it would fit. I'll fiddle with it and try to dress up the wires a little.

There is supposed to be a rubber sleave covering the wires there.

I fixed it. Thanks everybody. I was able to dress the wires under the console.

Hi Fishercat,
A pic says a thousand words. Sandmann nailed it, and, you really should slap the dealer a bit. I was thinking on less obvious lines like the ignitor wire being poorly routed. Boy oh boy!

Here is a pic showing that area at console liftoff pre cable disconnect:

My exact reason I interview the Mechanic/tech at Triumph dealers, some are just plain lazy and cannot be expected to care or be concerned as we owners of the bikes are, the good ones however will DO IT RIGHT the first time!!!

It's unbelievable that a dealer would let a crappy job like that leave his place like that. I don't think it would be wise to allow this dealer to work on your bike again. Who was he?
