Yup, they are rusting... How the H E double hokey sticks am I gonna get that off? Simichrome and floss doesn't really sound appealing to me...

Call Progressive, maybe they'll replace the springs? I thought the 440's had some type of long/lifetime warranty?
Mine are black and look flawless so far.

I was considering taking them apart, but I didn't want to get smacked in the head

Simichrome and tube socks....

Mine are rusty too. It is really only noticable when I take a picture! Then you see the brown. I take an old tube sock, put some simichrome on it and play shoeshine boy. May not do any good but I feel better afterwards...

Fine (OO) steel wool will also remove any surface rust.

Yeah I'm confident I can remove the rust... But it keeps coming back. That's my problem... That's why I'm painting stuff black

Mine are rusty too. How does it go? Rust never sleeps?

Anyway we gripe about Triumph chrome. Progressive takes the cake though.

Keep us abreast of your research if you contact Progressive. I could use some new non rusty springs.

To clean them use the rag you were polishing with and use the rag as a push pull saw. The rust wipes off readily but after a while I am sure it won't.

Yeah I know I could do that, but like I said, the idea of flossing my springs really doesn't appeal to me. I figure if I'm gonna take them apart to replace the springs, I might as well just take them apart, clean them well, paint em black, and put em back...

Sorry for having described what you were trying to convey by the Floss verbalize. It is just that floss conjures up thoughts of well defined, graceful, voluptuous, maidenly derrières.

Not teeth or 440 springs!

I feel the same way about my spokes... You'r push-pull wire saw analogy might be better, but flossing is funnier
