Finally, a decent day. Temp in the upper 50's, (64 by the time I was done) wind 20 MPH from the SW and no appointments or such. Time to exercise the bikes, so I got out all three and took them (one at a time of course ) down to the truckstop and back. Riding them in serial like that really brings out the differences. Going from America to Night Train to Roadking is like going from a TR3B to the same era Corvette to an International Carryall.

Sounds like fun. Bob and I have ridden ours twice since the new year. With the three storms that have gone through here, I was a little hit and miss, but only got sprinkled on once. Though the winds yesterday were a bit blustery, it was good to be out. Not as warm as you though.

Central Iowa has sucked weather wise since Thanksgiving. This the first time in over three years I've gone a month without taking the bike out. Snow, ice, cold and now 40 Degree F with wet streets and sand. Yeecch

It got up the 40 degrees today so I started the bike and let it idle in the driveway for a few minutes. Other than that I took down the Christmas stuff that is not still frozen to the ground and used the powerwasher to clean the salt and crud off the car and to blast a ditch through the ice mound the city has built at the end of the driveway.

Whooo.. Hoooo!!! got to ride a bike today. Temp. hit 64 here in southeast Iowa and I managed to clock 60 + miles on my old trumpet. I had to trailer it out of my still icey lane. Man, I feel better now! I think I can make it to March if I have to.

For some crazy reason, it was in the 50's today in Philly. Got about 80 miles in with enough gear on to feel like the Michelin Man. Not too much crud on the roads as we have not really had much snow yet this year. It felt good to get out for a couple of hours. Now I remember why I never winterize my cycle. We always seem to have days like today and it is going to be even warmer thru Tuesday. I know the snow is coming...

Welll, be patient. I seem to have sealed the fate of the world to be a lot warmer in the future. Last year at this time, we were shin deep in snow, so I bought a blade for my tractor to clear out the lane. Of course, it will never snow like that here again because of it.

Exactly. In my "First ride of 2008" post I described cleaning the bike and putting it in it's nest for the winter. It's 55 at 2 a.m. as I type this and supposed to be near 60 or better for the next 2 days. What's the use of polishing it when you just take it out and ride it again???

Truer words never spoken. Our last "real snow" winter of '96 we had 5'-7' of snow on the level. A rancher friend of mine bought one of the those 2 stage rear pto driven snowblowers for his tractor. Of course, we've been mostly below average since then. He also has an old beat up caterpillar for when things get serious.
Years ago crossing Wyoming in January, I had to stop along the highway to watch a locomotive powered blower clear the tracks. I almost cried. Must be a guy thing

We are on our 2nd foot plus storm since just before Xmas - we still had some patches from that first storm - and its still coming down this morning. I haven't ridden since Rocky Point Vetern's Day weekend!!! Yea - this is Arizona!!!! I started the bike last weekend to to check it, and then plugged it in! boo hoo!

Went to gas up a couple of the bikes today, it is trying hard to blow up a storm. Even got rained on a bit. According to the forecast, it might even snow tonight. Well, it was fun while it lasted....
