Put the exhaust back on the scoot this weekend. Posted two pics in my gallery
Pulled all the tins and made a battery cover. Everything is ready for paint...
Probably two weeks away from actually shooting the paint...
Anyone know what the exhaust I have is?
Thanks

I just started riding bike last year and am still trying to understand all the mechanics of it (as simple as it is) but I do know for hot rods and trucks, the whole idea is to reduce the heat in the engine area. All though this is like comparing apples to oranges cause in a automobile the engine is enclosed in a "box" and a bike is exposed to the open air. I had put a set of headers on my pickup and I talked to a lot of people that say they are a waste of money, but I have notice a big improvement with them. I went with the ceramic coating cause apparently it'll allow less heat to escape through the pipes and into the engine bay and allows the heat to escape through the rest of the exhaust system. Even Race cars and hot rods will wrap the pipes in the engine bay to reduce engine temp. some even need to wrap fuel line cause the high engine temp vaperises the fuel before it can even get into the carbs.
So yes I can understand how wrapping the pipes is an added bonus to the perfomance of the bike, but I'm curious as to how much of a difference it really makes on these bikes if it is basicly left stock other then new pipes, jets, and intake? This is certianly something I would look into doing if I was doing a big bore and stroke on the engine, but then I would be looking at racing, it already keeps up to traffic and have absolutly no issues passing on the highway. But that is just my two cents worth.

I just always yield to the bike engineers and the last 50 years of R&D. Rather than chrome this stuff they would surely wrap it or coat it if it mattered. They would absolutely do it in Moto GP.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Looks aside, performance aside, it's a $40.00 fix to a bent and scratched pipe.

True enough! I just did mine because I got sick of taking care of the chrome. My pipes were beyond blue so I went to the trouble of de-bluing them and had them looking nice again. Then, while riding on Christmas morning I noticed a fairly significant oil leak. I attempted my non-scientific home diagnostic technique which simply meant reving the engine while standing next to it to find out where the oil was coming from. As it turned out I needed to replace the valve cover gasket but in figuring that out I managed to blue the pipes out pretty good again. Not want to spend the time de-bluing them I decided to wrap them. Problem solved! I'll never have to deal with those pesky blue headers again!
Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."

I've got to get my pipes wrapped before the SWTF, just to annoy the heck out of you. You are coming, aren't you?

I just re-wrapped my headers with DEI Black, and she looks AWSOME. I also wound up blacking out the martini shakers -- they were getting surface rust, and rather than being responsible for all that crap, I just applied the hi-temp. All this, re-packing the cans, and a rejet... now all I need are new tires and I'm ready to boogie for the season! pix coming soon -- I'm VERY happy with how she's looking at the moment. Note, though: If you're gonna do the wrap, get good wrap - if you get the cheap stuff it'll degrade and shred. I did the no-name ebay wrap the first time an it shredded and looked like ****** -- get DEI or some other name brand if you're gonna do it. --Jaeger

Oh, my apologies! Didn't realize. Do it! If you're in the market for a cruiser style then you can't go wrong. --Jaeger
