spent on fireworks to celebrate bringing in the New Year in London. Surely this would've been better spent on the homeless or our hospitals.
Or is it just me getting old

I agree, it could also be used to shorten physio waiting lists - currently at 8 weeks in Bristol. And everything is always in London. Next year why not Birmingham or Manchester(that's the thing that annoy me the most...)? But Ray.....you've always been old

Of course that kind of money wouldn't go too far if it went to a government program. Most of it would get lost in the beuracracy or wind up lining some rich politicians pocket....

The neighbors behind me obviously spent nearly that much as well. The last blasts that left paper debris in my back yard went up about 1:40. Happy New Year zzzzz I guess we're all getting old...

A waste of money to give those who choose to live as the homeless do ( they know the hand outs are coming ). As for hte hospitals, what good would that little bit do, a new paint job somewhere?
******, the fireworks made a lot of people happy, thats a pretty good use of the cash.

London is a world famous city as well as the nations Capital. Thats why everything happens in London. It also happens to be one of the best cities in the world, why wouldn't you stage everything there?

Cos London is not the only city in the country. And I hate London. I think my record for the shortest time in the smoke was 8 minutes...and that was cos I had to walk from one end of Paddington to the other, via the office. But then I hate Birmingham too. I could rant for ever about things being in London, but I won't. Things should be central for everyone - including those in the Outer Hebrides. The extreme South East is not easy for everyone in the country to get to.

British Rail, Nationwide Bus service, motorways. Gina, i've know the the UK, lived there for 27 years, ive driven in just about every part of it. England is an absolute doddle to get around. Be happy you live in a tiny little country that only takes a few hours to get from one end to the other.
I regually drive 5 hours or more to go to a concert, any further and i take a plane. Heck, i have a 65 mile round trip to buy my PG Tips and Hob Nobbs. Jaffa Cakes are even further.
