Well, FWIW, I wound up removing the rubber crappy one, cutting off the loop part with a razor, drilling a small hole through the base of the rubber, and putting a ziptie through it. Quick fix, doesn't look TOO bad (from a distance, anyway) and... well, it didn't cost $50.
We'll see. If I magically find $50 in an old pair of jeans I may spring for the chrome one, but right now I have other mods that need done sooner!
