Well at least it was a good sounding miss and not just a total WAG. Coal tender so it's gotta be a steamer, doesn't look like a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy to my untrained eye...so...you got me again. Shoot, I thought the celsius/fahrenheit clue was tough enough and I didn't even get close on it. It would be just my luck that this is the flagship of the Bangaloor/New Delhi line.

You took the words right out of my hands (except I think mert's photo is of an earlier model, 4-6-4 sibling #3803): http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/?irn=85075&img=149598Quote:
Locomotive 3830 represents the epitome of steam locomotive development in New South Wales. It was the last of the 38 class locomotives to be built and the last passenger locomotive to be designed and built by the New South Wales Government Railways. The 38 class saw the last period of popular rail travel prior to the use of the domestic airlines and the increased popularity of the family car. The 38 class locomotives held off the diesel invasion for over a decade and were gradually relegated to goods train operation. They were finally withdrawn from service during the 1960s and early 1970s.

Looking forward to being there Chy. I have to say though, the trip down may not be fun. we've got snowbanks higher than my head and temps today in the mid teens. I'm seriously looking at renting a pickup truck.
