Hi Frank, I have these saddle bags , they do over-hang the shocks a little, unless you can move the indicators, they dont interfer with the way they work, but could rub the chrome if you dont put a little tape on the shocks where they touch, but they look good. Hi Snapperman they are the leatherworks 110 classics. In inches they are 13 X 20 X 7. They hold about 4 times what you can get in the standard triumph ones. I have had them a few months now and am very happy with the workmanship etc. I have been out in some heavy rain and they dont leak and have some nice features. They are a bit expensive - but you get what you pay for.

I have the Willy & Max Fleetside slants. Just had to remove the stitching on the yokes and put them off. Nice clean installation. I can't post a pic but will e-mail you one if you want.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger......and then it hit me.

Frank A lot of people from this site ( me included) have gone for saddlemen jumbo drifter slant bags when using easy-brackets. Saddlebags. I used to have a set of Willie & Max throwover bags which were huge, and I have to say that the Saddlemen were a bit of a disappointment in comparison. Another slightly irritating thing is that the angle of the slant/shape of the bag can make packing them a bit of a chore until you work out where everything goes. Good luck in your search.

Frank, almost anything can be mounted to EZ brackets with some simple mods (stiffening backing plate, etc). Find the bags you like, then worry about the brackets.

I have the Willie Max slants with Easy Brackets. They are large enough for a leather jacket & more. If you go this route you will have to stiffen the back plates. I used plexiglass. I like riding around town without the bags. When I am ready for a road trip I just slide the bags on.

Hey Rick. Great taste. I have the exact set-up on my 03 TBA. All in all with the Easy Brackets it was only $300. I consider that a good investment

Nobby,
I am looking for pretty big bags myself - can you tell me which bags (which model) you had and with which brackets.
I noticed on the Willie and Max site they mention the "Ghost" brackets which sound appealing. Does anyone know anything about them?

Bedouin I had the fleetside slant saddlebags Link. I have looked at the dimensions of both and there doesnt seem to be much in it. Maybe it is the angle of the slant, or maybe that the W&M are soft bags, but I seemed to be able to get more in the W&M than I can in the saddlemen. If I could turn back time (queue Cher song!) then I would probably go with the W&M in preference to the Saddlemen. re the brackets, I just found some cheap brackets in a bike shop. Turns out they were not long enough and in the end I "customised" them with some BBQ forks (with welding done by a friend of Dinqua!) Didnt look nice at all but I never had the bags off the bike so didnt matter. Sorry that this doesnt help you! Nobby

Nobby,
The W & M's are looking pretty high on my list. Thanks for your advice, appreciated.

I looked at both the Ghost brackets and EZ brackets and it looked like the Ghost brackets are too universal. i.e. adjust to fit the bike. I liked the fact that the EZ's were a solid non-adjustable piece. Makes for a cleaner install and look IMO.

Very important that you stiffen them. I noticed a dinqua event getting ready to transpire regarding my Saddleman bags, so I reinforced them with plexiglass and can report that the repair worked as tested by a 4,323 mile road trip this September. Here is link to some photos of that repair. But in reality this repair should indeed be a pre-install modification for those of you that have yet to purchase the easy brackets.

I would go with the ones that are made specifically for our bikes (EasyBrackets).

Moe, Many thanks for your efforts to post the pics. I like the W and M bags. I am only a little concerned that they are a little too small for longer journeys, so perhaps I need to look for larger set. I have seen Freedom's bags from Carolina Leatherworks which seem pretty big and I also like them. I have the Triumph brackets which I got with Triumph's fabric bags which are extremely small (useless for journeys - good for cigarettes and magazines etc.). They seem (the brackets) to be around the size of Nobby's extended version. I don't particularly like the idea of the EZ brackets and more specifically, the idea of drilling holes and having to reinforce bags etc. Will the brackets I have be ok for the W & M's or larger bags? What do you think?
Bedouin.

Don't know how far or long you are planning to go, but the W&M bags were fine for my 7 month, 24,000 mile trip around the US. (when used in conjunction with the pillion seat and the luggage rack for luggage)

I think that the brackets you have now will be fine for any bag that you want to put on. The only reason I extended mine was that I noticed a (slight) curving of the bottom of the bag towards the wheel. This may be because I tended to pack the heavy items first. The chain guard and the brake caliper will also help if things get real bad.
If you put in stiffeners as Moe has, there should be no problem at all.
Nobby

Great, I am sold! That's pretty convincing mileage, also more than double I have ever done (10,000) and I thought mine was a lot. Good for you! I just wasn't too sure as a picture can be misleading (that's how I bought those tiny fabric bags from Triumph - Yuck!)

There was a little incident with one of Shauns bags (what was it, a fence post?) It stitched up good as new too! The Willie and Max bags are what I would call a floppy style bag. Yet Shaun traveled with them and never had any manufacturer derived problems with them. Popeye on the other hand has rigid bags. Heck, Popeye's bags must be made out of at least 6 or 7oz leather.
And Shaun, I thought you had closer to 32 thousand miles on the Blue Blaze...

Yeah but that was over 2 periods & gets complicated to explain - easier to say 24k in 7 months!
