Insta-trike has a trike kit for our bikes. My wife want's to ride, but is afraid of her bad knee giving out while stopped or in a situation where she needs it to be dependable. She asked me if she could have my bike and me get a new one. Of course I said, "Honey, I love my bike, but for you I could settle for an ST or Rocket. Well, maybe next year's new America". Anyway, we talked to several old HD and Wing riders that had these things this weekend and they absolutely love them. Most of them had owned true trikes before and prefer this one. They even have a trailer hitch included for $2900. I am interested in one so Raynea can have her own ride. InstaTrike They have models for most bikes. Supposed to take only a few minutes to convert back to 2 wheels.

There's one of those monstrosities here in town. Some guy has it on his Harley. I laugh my arse off everytime I see it, definetly training wheels. I bet he gets a LOT of crap about it. Looks friggin rediculous.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Seems some of these guys miss the point... If this is what it takes to continue riding, vs. not riding at all, who cares what other people think??? If it works for you, go for it...

I agree with Don. Whatever a rider needs to keep his/her face in the wind.
As a side; I can see why this contraption would be popular with Harley riders - It would make rolling it off the trailer a breeze!

I rode my neighbors $40k worth of a H-D Ultra Classic Trike, full HD conversion. In corners, it felt like the trike was literally going to spit me off as the bike turned. Nothing leans, felt very strange. I see a ton of them so I guess you get used to the handling. Think I'd rather have me wife on that setup if she was new to riding versus two wheels. My rule of thumb was always if you can't pick it up, you shouldn't be riding it. If it can't fall over - no problem! Good luck!

I'll chime in. If it keeps you both out enjoying the ride together, more power. Sounds like the best of all worlds to me. Never been on a Trike bike, but rode a 3 wheeled ATV for backcountry work when they first came out. As mentioned the "dynamics" are strange until you get used to it and respect the limitations.

Hi Grump,
I love to ride with my wife, but if she's gonna have to be behind me, I want a bigger bike. If I get another America or ST, and add this little gizmo to my old one for her, then we can ride and I won't need a Rocket, BMW K12 or Harley Ultra (forget a Goldwing).
However, I would HAVE to do something about those dog ugly fenders.

Hi John,
I hadn't thought about the kickstand deal. Maybe I need one of these for myself, then I could forever swear off kissing gasoline pumps while slowly writhing to the ground in pain. I'll never forget that day. Put the stand down before you pump gas.

A lady in town here, rode somekind of mid-weight Honda, developed cancer and had these training wheels attached at the local Triumph shop. For the most part, she was able to ride through her treatment. Cancer is now in remission and the extra wheels are off.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke .

It looks like a sidecar without the car. If you get a sidecar she can also use it to go shopping and you'll have accomplished the original objective too.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
