After checking out a few of the pics in this forum, I decided to go with 14" apes for my speedmaster. I want to run the cables outside with new grips, but original controls, brake and clutch lever etc. I have been checking out some pretty inexpensive bars online but I'm not sure what to look for. Knurled, dimpled, how about risers? I want to go with short risers, maybe an inch or 2. Does anyone know where to find them? Any help would be appreciated.

I found the risers on newspeedmaster. Man they're expensive.

You can go with standard Harley risers for J&P cycle. You can drill the top tree to fit the bolt or they newspeedmaster and others sell a metric by std. bolt that will fit

Any HD bar will fit, as long as it is 1". I have a set of HD Heritage bars, I believe they are knurled.

You want knurled. That is the part the risers bite into. don't need dimpled with our controls.

For risers, I'd keep shopping ebay.

Keep in mind you will need all new cables ($$$) and extend the wiring.

Thanks for the replies. I have all winter to save for the mod. Bringing the bike down to S.Carolina at the end of March to ride with my uncle. He is kinda conservative and I can't wait to see his face when he sees what I pull up in.

Measure the space between the knurls. The 10" rise apes i picked up show the knurles skicking out the inside left and right.

Wow, I like those bars. Are you running an interal throttle? Foot clutch as well, or was the bike just not completed when the pix were take? Those grips look great with those bars. Also love the tailight.

Most Harley bars are 1", just like ours.

SS,
they are 1" bars and i am running a internal throttle that i made myself.
i just took off the cable for the foot clutch, so that is why it looks weird.
the grips are made out of aluminum and knurled with set screws.

And I thought the 1.25" bars were more a newer/custom thing.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Triumph picked 1" bars for the cruisers and the 3.5" riser spacing because that's what Harley was using. But I doubt they did it because it would give us more options (or they would've used larger holes in the yoke).
