Correction there PapaDean, 2300cc is WAY bigger than you average European sedan.

Average size is around 1300-1800cc.
With fuel prices the way they are, the average bloke on the street couldn't afford to run anything approaching 2300cc!!
Our cars pay an annual Road Fund license with costs varying on a sliding scale - based on engine cc.
Obviously smaller cars cost less with, I think, 1800cc being one cut-off point, hence the majority of cars below this.

A lot of cars in the 1800cc + bracket tend to be diesel.
