I just got out of a position where my manager pretended to like to listen to what you had to say. Then did things his way anyhow. Or if you presented a neat, ingenuitive idea it was always poo-pooed and set aside. Amazingly enough those ideas would reappear 6, 12, 18 months later as his new approach to something. Maybe dressed in different clothing but the same idea never the less. This completely squashed my creativity in the workplace, then my motivation and then I became the cancer on the team. Thank god for all that I was able to get out of that. Ticks me off because I really liked the job I did there but I couldn't continue to live under this type of management style. The new position probably kept me out of jail. I know my new boss personally but don't yet know her management style. I am thinking this is going to be a better relationship overall and I will have a little more free rein with my creativity as long as I stay in budget. I get to build another new lab for this company. Different technologies but still in my baliwick. I am pretty excited.
