Dave, you are definitely on the right track as the Triumph Bonneville America is the best looking, quickest going, quickest turning, quickest stopping cruiser scoot you can find.
I got mine used and the advice is to check ebay, this site and local papers. I got mine for less than $4000 and this is definitely the time of year to negotiate.
