Personally, I'd take 694 around to the North. There's construction (always) around the 35E interchange, but barring excessive traffic that's the way to go. 94 thorough mpls and st paul is a mess from my perspective, but I live just north of 694, and work 3 miles from the house, so I don't have to deal with it much. The bridge collapse was on 35W just north of I94, the traffic has been rerouted around to a spur (MN280), people I work with think the traffic down there is a little worse since the collapse, but not to a huge degree. What time are you heading through? Makes a big difference on 694 traffic.
