Some who know me well will remember that I made a deal with my wife in late 2002 that resulted in me owning a Triumph. The deal was I give her a child, Elizabeth now 5, and I get a bike, Rhonda now 4. I am currently pursuing a second bike, and my latest offer is this: I get a vasectomy in exchange for a Sprint ST. Thus far, no deal. What would you do???

Ask wifey if you can ride the Sprint until your sterile.

Wifey wants me to stop drinking and to up my life insurance.
#1 ain't gonna happen, although I won't drink and ride, which may turn out to be a benefit since I'd rather ride than drink. #2 is easy, but I'm only going up another 50 grand or so...

My wife didn't protest at all, but I haven't checked on my life insurance policy to see if it has been increased

To paraphrase "Meatloaf": I would do anything for a bike... But I won't do that. Actually, I gave up having a car or truck to have a bike.

Ryan, I know I'm going to get a ton of flack on this, but let the beatings begin. I say do it. I had it done two years ago and the procedure takes a half hour at best. Not going to lie to ya, its not the best feeling in the world while they're doing it, but I was on my feet in no time. "Snip, Snip" occurred on Friday afternoon. I was walking around gingerly on Saturday and back to myself by Monday. So lets look at a little math. The Sprint ST is 1050cc's of pure adrenaline joy. I was down about 96 hours (Saying 4 full days Friday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon. Felt I could have rode on Monday, but waited until Tuesday). That's 11cc's an hour. Good trade off in my book. Also, let me keep this clean, the prescribed home "testing" sessions with the Mrs. aren't a bad side-effect! Ok, I'm ready for my beatings now. Please begin. Steve B.

(I mean, I'll bet cha there ain't too many Mormon dudes who can afford to have more than one bike, RIGHT?!)

Must be a generational thing. If I really wanted a second bike and could afford it without placing a strain on the finances, I would have a second bike. Violating my vestibules would never enter into the conversation......

After two kids I got done at 26 and now after 25 years I have lumps in my nuts were the spermatoza is causing minor what ever they are! had to go to a specialist who after a good grope and checking out the ultra sounds anounced there was nothing to worry about as this is a common side effect. No one told me. Having said all that I would still have had it done it makes life so simple especially when you have mastered the cowboy walk.

Just let the little lady see how you float down Hwy. 60 in Georgia and she will want you to go into racing brother. Don't touch that package. H-e-double-toothpicks, I'll hit the big V just for the privilege to try to keep up with ya'.
Let me just make sure i got this right though: you had to make love to your wife with the bonus of procreation to get a motorcycle. Oh, you poooooorrrrrr ******. Of course i just had to check my bank account, figure out i was poor and buy one anyways. But ohhhhh you pooooorrrrrr ******. Heck, have two more and maybe you can convince her that you now deserve another bike.
Don't worry about global climate change, overpopulation or any of that. Just get your self another bike and perhaps another bikini strapped top and all will be good.
Who loves ya' baby?!

No someone else would have to eat it then.......for it to effect the swelling! The question is what would you do for a new bike.

How about this? Take a business and get the vasectomy done. When you get back promise you'll keep trying to father the third child if you can go ahead and get the ST, "babe right know is the best time to buy a bike" MIke

Why Keith...No "political undercurrents" were either implied or intended about the proclivities of any Utah residents to have rather large families.(and thus, less money left over at the end of each the month for the purpose of purchasing more motorcycles)
You see, my first idea was to mention Mexicans in this regard, but I sure didn't want this thing to segue into that always controversial topic of illegal immigration, ya know.(I mean, ya might as well wave a red blanket in front of a bull's nose, so to speak, about THAT subject...right?!)
And then I thought of using the Chinese as an example, but those dudes have that one-child law over there now ya know! (and so I couldn't use them anymore, now could I?)

Ryan, you've given me something to think about here. My wife has become quite insistent about me getting the big V. We've got three kids and that's enough. I see that I might be able to use that as leveraage. I'm not after a new bike at the moment but it might work for a BB kit or the like?????

Ryan,
I think the wife might be a little smarter than you, and is holding out for something more than just a simple vasectomy.
Prior to Trina's death the deal I had going was once everything was paid off I would get a second bike. She never said she agreed, but then she never argued against it either. So now everything is paid for and I will be looking for a second bike. What I am leaning toward is the following:
2008 Tiger Caspian Blue with, 3 Box Panniers, color matched, Top box backrest Pad, Tail Pack, Tank Pad, Touring Screen, Centre Stand Kit and Aux Power Socket. I am in no rush, so I will take my time and look around.
Tom

I got a new bike in December and am scheduled for the big V in Jan. Separate events, not connected (so to speak) in any way. My aunt had a daughter in college when her youngest was born. Oops! Our girls are 14 and 17 and I REALLY do not want to go back to strollers and diaper bags.
Day surgery for me, or more extensive for her. No contest.

I'm sure the women's lib people wouldn't go for this. But personaly I would just foot the bill for the little wifey to get the tubular snip/tie job. After all she's the one that has to drop the litter not me. Then,.. In this senario, I wouldn't have any down time from riding my brand new Triumph because of sore nads. So sorry ladies... ps-fortunately (or unfortunately), I'm 60 and have other things to worry about in this department besides the little snippy v, namely the OTHER V.

I am on my 3 marriage and we did not want anymore kids I have 5 she has 1, we got married the day we got back off honeymoon I had the big "V" done, the astonishment on the surgeons face was a picture..

Get the snip anyway if you don't want anymore kids.
Much less invasive (read risky) than the wife's tubal would be. Fewer side effects than her taking oral contraceptives (cancer, osteoporosis etc). More spontaneity than mechanical means.
And usually not much downtime for healing. Had mine done twenty years ago. Took a week off work and milked it (pun intended) for sympathy. Just consider it permanent, reversal is expensive and often not successful.
And don't let the dog know ("WHAT!!?? You had mine cut off?? And you just got a couple little tubes snipped so you can still have fun??? GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!").
Oh. And for the bike. I just need to fit the financial. After my pickup is paid off (about two years) I'll have another. I get one set of vehicle payments at a time, so does she.
