I would like to remove the America decal on the side cover. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to do this, and avoid having to repaint, would be appreciated.

Black tape.

Couldn't resist This was asked before and I heard with some heat it comes off pretty easily and others said it was under the clear coat. Maybe a light touch with a heat gun or high setting on a blow dryer for heat if thats the case. If it's under the clear coat on yours I don't see how to do it with out repaint.

There is also a spray product made for taking off bumper stickers that dissolves the sticker so it just wipes off but doesn't harm the paint. I don't remember what it was called,my friend had it once and showed me to remove an inspection sticker from my rear fender.

I just left my side panel in direct sunlight for a couple of hours.....then got a thumbnail under one edge. It peels off no problem but does leave a kind of 'raised edge' so you can see something has been stuck there. I had a spare panel so I wasn't too worried but it may well flat out with some rubbing compound and polish.

Yep,hair dryer on high, get it really warm, should peel right off,(unless it's been clear coated, which I doubt)

I would doubt it's under the clear too but since I never peeled one off figured I would cover that base since someone said theirs was. I was thinking it was possible and maybe even under the clear on some years and not on others. In any case like I said I wouldn't think it would be under the clear.

I actually remember reading about a member that tried to take it off and it got all botched up because it was under the clear. What he thought was a simple thing turned out to be a can of worms.........

If you get a big enough Harley decal it'll go right over it. No need to even peel it off. Oops, sorry, wrong site again.
