yea, i know about him but it's been said he doesn't do this for anyone other than the locals. And he's in europe somewhere.

After reading that thread again i suppose theres no use anyway since the 270 will out just above the limiter anyway even if it's upped. Oh well, it's all good fun anyway....

Thanks for your reply RCV, also posted to your cams thread. About a month ago, posted dyno results of my ride with the cams and CRS carbs. While the numbers weren't anything spectacular, and basically said I didn't really know how to tune my carbs for power, the shape of the HP and Torque curves bear out what you're saying about the Speedmaster engine liking the additional revs. At the 7900 RPM limit my HP Curve was still climbing, and wasn't really exhibiting signs of a drop-off. My torque curve was still showing 40 FT-Lbs at 7900 RPM, so I think I could reasonably expect to hang in there around 8500ish or so. So it now just comes back to the mechanical integrity of the engine above 8 grand, and the ease of getting that kind of modified ignitor in the states.

Yep, I emailed Jojje about this like 8 or so months ago. He told me that for liability reasons, he was legally advised to not perform this service for someone in USA. There's always ways to get around that if you happen to know someone that lives in Europe, but it probably isn't worth the hassle at that point.

They were re-grinds off of stock cams that the dealership in Pensacola (D&D Cycles) came up with. At one time, I'd gotten the specs from the cams and had them included in my member profile on the old bonnevilleamerica site, but didn't keep them elsewhere; when the site got reborn the specs were lost, and when I called the dealership to get the specs again, they begged off citing proprietary interest. The specs didn't seem too eyebrow-raising, and since they were re-grinds, I don't imagine that they were all that much more aggressive than the stock grinds

I see. But i'm not sure i see how grinding a cam could increase performance. I know nothing about this aside from common sense, but i may be off anyway. But to me it would seem for more radical performance you'd need more duration and/or lift wouldn't you? (which of course could not be had by removing metal) Just curious...

They probably had to build the surface up with weld and re-machine the lobe surface, as otherwise you'd be right. They could change the shape of the lobe within the dimensions of the stock grind, but it'd be like a mini-me cam lobe. My $0.02 worth is that they build up the lobes then reground with new duration and lift values magically appearing.
