Thats the beauty of PS3 you don't need anything extra and as long as you have an internet connection you can surf the web,chat online, play online , download games and trial versions of games, and update the software online. All is free except to buy full version games. Plus PS3 plays Blue Ray discs and music as well as handles pictures and memory cards from cameras and many USB devices. PS3 does even more than I can describe because I don't use all the functions.
