Just curious if anyone may have some inside information on some fairly large good quality saddle bags that will fit the TBA. (the triumph bags look so small) I plan on buying a new bike when I get home and using it as my daily driver when the weather is suitable. $3 gas + my F150 + 50 min drive to work is not a good combination. As always, I greatly appreciate the insight of the true enthusiasts that reside here.

I use the Saddleman Jumbo bags, they are not massive but you can fit enough stuff in them, I am sure someone else will chime in with their $0.02 worth and give you some more ideas. You could always do a search in the forums and photos to see if you like anything that has been posted

I've got the Triumph leather saddlebags, well made, but you're right, they are a bit on the small side. The best bag I've bought is a Kuryakyn custom roll. They make a nice range of bags, but I don't think they do throw-overs ? I guess it depends on what you want to carry, what style you want and how much you want to pay? If I replaced my Triumph bags, I'd probably go for "Held" brand (made in Germany).

Hey Jason, Give these a look. I really like the bagger look and they are plenty big. My next choice after the Triumph Slants finish falling apart. Hard Bags

These are on my list for Santa. I can't speak on the quality but the look ok. For the price they're worth a shot. Does anyone have these? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail...lant_Saddlebags

we bought cheap leather bags off of Ebay. heavy leather but not the best quality. They hold up but start looking shabby pretty fast. but we got 20"X14"X5" leather bags with fringe and conchos for $35 and mounted them to easy brackets. They do the job and we have a 2nd set for looks or short trips where Wendy wants to enter her bike in the show. She has 3 trophys and a medal now.My Auburn bags are some of the best I have ever seen for quality, but I haven't seen many so there are probably others of equal quality but I doubt better. The leather itself is very nice and everything on the bag is good quality and it is well made.I would highly recomend them.

Triumph has some new large bags that are all leather for '08. I haven't seen any in person yet, but very curious.

Check out... http://leatherneckjim.safeshopper.com/He has decent prices, as in Auburn bags as less than retail. I have 2 sets of Auburn bags and they are very well made, one full leather, one synthetic. Another good place to check is http://www.foxcreekleather.com/They also make great stuff, including some the the nicest leathers you've ever seen. I picked up some deerskin gloves when I bought my jacket last year. Nice folks. They didn't even laugh because I parked my bike on the road instead of riding over the wooden bridge and up the gravel driveway... hey... it was raining, cold and slippery! And those wooden planks they call a bridge do go over Fox Creek! <G> Mary Oh yeah.... on my Harley, I was supposed to install some kind of turn signal kit or something, cause the lights stuck out too far with the EasyBrackets. So I just flipped the left and right bracket that mounts on the saddlebags, no problem. Have had it that way for 4 years now, works just fine. I think the Speedy can use the brackets right way, tho. Oh and real leather saddlebags weight more than the vinyl ones. But I do think leather looks better longer. IMHO.

I have seen the leatherneck Jim's name mentioned on this site a couple of times. I visited their site and must say that his stuff looks "very good". He also seems to stand by his product. I like to buy from genuinely good people who treat their customers well even if it means paying a little extra. Really have a problem with handing my money over to dealers or venders who seem to be no more then large corporations who forget why they are in business in the first place...their customers! I think his products are what I will use thanks to all of the message TBA + SM addicts for their help in assisting my search for exactly what I want. I will drink a "near beer" tonight in the Chow hall in your honor

Those look like Saddleman bags. My Large Saddleman Drifters have held up nicely in the past four years. I had one side too close to my shock and hitting the spring cracked the plastic back slightly (this summer). I made two back plates out of aluminum and bolted them to the back, than to my permanent mount brackets. Now you can practically sit on them. IF they ever break, I'll probably pop for the Leatherneck Jim's bags since it appears I'll have this bike forever. If you are on a budget, check out Saddleman, if not Jim's looks like the deal.

I have these SB311s, as they are "higher"(13")(I call it deeper) than anything else Willie & Max offers, and you can't beat the price. You might get them cheaper somewhere else, but I got mine from Willie & Max 2 years ago and they had a good sale going before Christmas. Get the Easy Brackets, and put them on and take them off all the time, depending upon weather and where you are going. Lots of room in a no-slant, no-nonsense big bag. Stay away from real leather bags unless you want to spend big $$$$ and have to worry about maintaining them all the time. These I just wipe off with a damp rag. Life-of-the-Biker guarantee, too. WILLIE & MAX Standard Series

I made bags myself, because I didn't find large enough anywhwere. Wooden frames, metal tops and leather finishing. Side bags can carry 2.5 gals each. Total 200 euros (280$) for all 3 bags plus easy brackets for mounting. you can find some pics in my gallery "Finnrider"

You sir are a true craftsman! When I read homemade bags I'm thinking "uh-oh" but wow those are beautiful. If you haven't check our Finriders photo gallery, give it a look.

When I have my bags on, I always have my tool roll, my bungee nets and cords, a can of ThreeBond, maybe an extra pair of gloves, my rain suit and boot covers, who knows what else.
I always have my fork bag on with a flashlight and a small Craftsman 1/4 tool set (with a T30 torx bit, and a right-angle phillips screwdriver for the battery if I ever needed them), along with some leather lace? some zip-ties, and a tubeless tire repair kit.
3 1/2 years and nearly 38k, and I have yet to ever pull a tool out of a bag away from home. Got wet several times because I would not stop to don the rainsuit. Spare gloves? Zip ties?
I know, I know. It's just hard to get use to all this reliability after hearing so many stories about the "good old days"....
Just get on and ride!
