in FUGLY! I just saw the episode where they finished the Silver State Chopper. Not only ugly but from seeing Paul Jr. on it it borders on unridable. The gas tabk is almost against his chin when he rides it.

I did like the wheels. The front is 24"

I thought it was a Nevada themed bike.

I was just watchin too and wondered if they just make some of this crap without actually standing back to look at it. Is anyone impressed with their work anymore? Or ever?

Ian's right, if it isn't sortable ridable, it aint crap!
Also, when is some cool bike builder going to do a trumpet? If the idea is to break the mold and do something different, why is it always the same old tired looking Hardly inline?

Closest I have seen yet that I can think of is Jesse James used an America on Monster Garage once. They built a truck that opened up so the bike could park in the cab while both were moving.

Now that I think of it I think one of the guys on Biker Build off used a Triumph engine.

I know he did a tow chain frame and 2 different heads on one engine. He may have been the one but I am not sure anymore.

I have seen that, love it. I would think it would throw you to one side from the torque of the engine like my BMW but to a much greater degree.

It looks like hes trying to get away from his trademark 4ft long bars..ahaha

Seems like these guys just run a custom mousepad & mug shop...its like they have a catalog of "base choppers" on their office coffee table with...."your business logo here" right on the side...

I'd love to see a south park episode making fun of these guys...it'll show handlebar paul senior putting himself into a human pretzel just to ride a pile of chrome down the road...ahah...

I saw about 5 minutes of it last night when they were opening the box o' chopper parts and started on the oil cooler. I wish I could "pop over to the water jet" and make a few parts...

The tank looks like an Alien Vs Predator gone wrong...

God bless these guys, they've made a fortune. I'm only jealous to the extent that I can't weld a fireplace screen on the front of my next chopper and have everyone call me cutting edge.

Can I?

When my son wanted to take helo pilot training with Silverstate Helo, I did some investigating on Jerry Airola the CEO. It was controversial enough about his "student loan farm" that I advised my son against going in debt for $60K for it. Kind of a shady past on this guy.

my opinion.

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

Yeah but Ian, I'm sure the TLC Network really appreciated the jump in their Neilsen Ratings that YOUR viewing of these "artisans" gave them!!!

Let me ask you this, dude: WHY do you even bother to watch these bozos anymore, huh?!

(surely there HAD to be something worth watching on the History Channel during the same time...RIGHT?!)

(OH...AND...there's an oxymoron for ya, huh?! The "LEARNING" Channel...WHAT are we "learning" by continuing to watch these guys on our TVs...What?!..How to make a completely GAUDY and UNRIDEABLE motorcycle or how to communicate with family members and others in our workforce by being an overbearing jerk, MAYBE???)

Yep Tom...Anymore "loosely" there and the nuts and bolts will fly right off your assessment here, dude!

(kind of like my friend's old Shovelhead he used to own)

BTW, there was a new episode of "The Universe" on the History Channel last night, and it was WAY better than any old "CSI Bakersfield"...err...MIAMI rerun!)

I miss Jesse James's bike building show. His work was not so "fantasy" oriented. They were "Biker's Bikes" not some kid's fantasy bike.
This is James Hetfield's (of Metallica) bike done by West Coast Choppers:

Good lookin' out - dig a little deeper and you'll see he's more than shady. He was pretty big news around here a couple years ago when he ran for public office....as sherrif. He fabricated a past as a law enforcement officer and somehow didn't think the truth would come out. Turns out he donated a bunch of $$ to a police department in California and they made him an "honorary deputy".

I don't and wasn't watching them, I was flipping through looking for something to watch and saw them about to put the front wheel on and liked the wheel. I watch a little more to see what the whole bike looked like. When I saw it I just kinda shook my head and changed the channel. I give the old man credit for building his business for a pick up with a tag along welder to what he has today. I have no use for the rest of them. And what they build are not choppers and don't even really require as much talent as some of the things I have seen guys on here do.

I agree and not only that Jesse actually built things. He made his own frames and sheet metal parts and built engines and trannys or had custom engines done 1 off for him. Like that bike he did where they showed the head being machined out of billet (and later with the threads ripped out of it! LOL) I love that Knuckle!

Yeah...I know what you mean, Ian!

I have to admit that I even sometimes pause a second or two while surfing past Jerry Springer and think to myself, I can't believe I stopped to look at THESE morons!!!

(though in my defense, it's NEVER more than about 10 seconds!!!)

(hey..."train wrecks" DO kind'a fascinate for a second, don't they?!...or in OCC's case, "motorcycle wrecks", I suppose)

Well, I sure hope the Walrus Man and his progeny don't see that CNN report!!!

The next thing ya know, they'll be building a "homage" to those poor Burlington Northern employees that'll probably include some 8x8 railroad ties being attached somewhere on their creation!!!!

I wonder if OCC would ever be tempted to let some motorcycle riders take their creations for a ride and then give a assesment of the ride quality of their bikes.

I would volunteer to test ride their bikes for them. Though i dont think they would televise my assesment. Somehow I think this latest monstrosity would probably make my old bent framed CX500 feel like a state of the art GP machine.

I agree the Silver State Chopper bike is ugly (the handlebar position, to be specific ... the tank design I quite like).

I watch their show as much as possible, it's on here at 7 pm every evening and then a re-run at 4 am so I seldom miss it.

I immensely dislike Paul Sr's ranting which I guess is for theatrical purposes.
Otherwise I love watching the things they fabricate, the sheet metal work and the in-house frame production. If nothing else it gives off ideas (to me) and helps satisfies my curiosity.
I don't always like their designs and some of the bikes are monsters.
There have been a few that I do like (the New York Yankees bike comes to mind).
On the subject of one-off engines, I don't expect this outfit to be able to practically do this, especially on the scale of their current operation. Probably better left to small outfits with not much else to do.
I also enjoy and can't wait to see the paint-job Nubs comes up with each time - some have been very cool and creative.

Despite his being a bit "gruff" (correct me if I messed up with that word), I actually like Paul Sr (he's like a big kid) and take my hat off to him for his (and his team's) achievement (the most famous and successful custom bike-builder world-wide).

My bet is a lot of bike-builders (professionals) would just love to have a similar operation/facilities and be in his position.

Nah, Mark! I've got a BETTER IDEA!!!

How's about we have 'em crate up one of their creations, send it to Heathrow, and then have YOU perform your old profession as a courier on it on the streets of London!!!

(I give ya about 12 and half minutes TOPS before you're T-Boned by one of those new articulated buses while attempting a U-turn on it right in front of Herrod's there at KnightsBridge, because it'll take a minimum of 6 lanes to make that U-turn on the thing, dude!!!)

oh give me 40 acres and i'll turn this rig around a long time ago i bought a panhead from ron finch (biggest p.o.s. ever had) that had a looonnnggg stretch front end springer. i only had it a very short time because every turn made me feel like i was gonna fall down, and to turn around i needed a parking lot of course that was back before they started getting the bikes level, it sat quite high at the neck. very uncomfortable bike. big waste of $$$ and had a hard time selling it

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

You would want someone to drive that thing through the streets of london.

I doubt if i would even make as far as Harrods. Probably abandon the while idea by Chiswick roundabaout and jump on the tube. Quicker and a lot less stressful.

OCC are already here!! They've got a display stand in our local shopping centre (mall). Far too shiny for my liking, plus, all the bits looked like bolt-on stuff, nothing appeared handmade. And they were charging a £5er for people to have their pics taken on one. Cheeky f***ers, they should be paying the people!!! Should have parked my Speedie up nearby just to p*ss 'em off and show 'em what a proper bike looks like.
