No contest Old Tank! It gives the Triumph some of it's character instead of being just another yama-sukionda. Speaking of which, I still think the '08 Triumph tank looks almost like the Yamaha Warrior tank. I hope it wasn't changed just because some bored dude at Triumph was looking out the window and saw a Yamaha Warrior go by and thought "hey I like that.... maybe the boss will too."

2003 Speedmaster I won't rise to the occasion, but I'll slide over to it.

very close indeed, Takes away some of the uniqueness of Triumphs. Old tank for sure is best. Makes our bikes stand out more.

Of course, old tank. They have an '08 here in the showroom. Seeing it side by side with an '07 there's clearly no contest. The new tank totally changes the look of the bike, in a very conformist way. By the way, the new tank badge on the 08 is clear coated onto the bike, which I didn't really care for either.

I just bought a new 4-door Jeep Wrangler. It's my 3rd Wrangler. I love the way they keep getting better, still look like a Wrangler, and haven't gone Japanese like everything else.

I would think it should be important forTriumph to keep their classic differences. In other words, they should continue to "go their own way". Bring people to their strengths and not try to look like what everyone else is doing.

I like the new tank. I'll trade my 02 black with silver scallops and screw-on badges + cash and/or parts for any color new tank.

I haven't seen one in person yet. So that badge isn't a badge like we have just different style? It is painted on? If it isn't painted how is it clear coated in? I thought I liked it until I saw you said it is clear coated in,I wouldn't care for that either.

The badges on the 2008 models at the bike show i went to weren't painted on. They are a moderner looking version of the eyebrow style badge. I had a good feel of it anyway

I'm not about to get rid of my old tank but I do like the new tank. If I was really that worried about having a traditional Triumph tank then I'd be riding a Bonnie and not a TBA

It's not so much about traditional as it is about being different or non-jap looking. The knee pad indent gives it that British flair.I am all for change since it helps keep the name going but in this case I think it takes away from the overall look and as illustrated in the pix above makes it look like too much like a Jap bike.

When I said clear coated on, I don't mean that the badge itself is paint or a decal. I mean that it looks as though they did a gloss layer of clear coat that covered both the tank and the badge, effectively sealing the badge on the bike. I used to have the same thing on my '06 Honda (except that on the Honda it really was just a decal). When I talked to my friend who does custom paint jobs for Big Dog about taking them off he remarked that you would have to remove the layer of clear coat first. The new Triumph tank appears to be a similar set up.

By the way, it was just first glance, I could be totally wrong about it. It's just that that's what it looked like.

New badge looks cheap.Today at the dealer, one of the service looked at it when I pointed it out, and then cussed at it. He was none too happy with the look nor the extra hassle it will create to change/repair.
