Hmmm, I had exactly the same thing happen to me a couple January's ago in South Carolina. Waiting at a yield before merging onto the main road, and bonk, an old guy bends in my fender. Crushed the taillight, but the bike was rideable in every other way. Glad to hear you walked away OK!
