Spend about $600 in mods to the exhaust and intake, and it will take a 1200 Sportster at least double that amount of cash to keep up. An 88 inch twin cam with the same mods that I have on my America won't keep up. On the other hand, a 96 inch will on flat, straight roads, but it should do better since it has an engine twice as big.
On a crooked road, the only HD that will do as well is a Buel, and I'm not sure that counts.
