I have run across a new Benelli -Novo Centro Tre (?) just North of me here....I have always been fond of Benelli because the Benelli Banshee was my 1st real motorcycle.....I know they dropped motorcycles and concentrated on "scooters" and "mopeds" for a long while and just recently got back in to the "heavy iron"....does anyone know or are familiar with any issues etc with the newly minted Benelli "big-bikes"

This catches me by suprise, I though they went out of business. I had a Benelli many years ago. Either just before or just after my Morini. Thing was great fun.

Evidentaly, they were merged with Moto Guzzi and later degenerated to just making scooters and mo-peds...in europe not exported to US....evidently just a few years ago they developed a triple and called it the Tornado Tre...this bike I found is a 2005 model...like you, had a little Benelli many years ago and have always had a soft spot for the marquee....but they are back to exporting to the USA after more than 20 years wondering about what people have to say about them,,,,thought some of our overseas Bro's might know..........

The TRE 1130K gets a good write up but as it's not an a$$ in the air sports bike, most of the bike press dismiss it. Have a look at the bike reviews at MCN.... http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/?N=189%204294599204

I read a review on the Benelli TNT in a local bike mag down here, and they were impressed with it to a degree but expected better for the money. Apparently it was not reliable, fit and finish wasn't great, and things started to corode real quick. They enjoyed the performance aspects of the bike, but stated you could get just as good for less. Wild looking bikes though!!

I don't think they ever had anything to do with MG but it's true they just made scooters (many of which are sold here in Greece) and dropped the m/c lines.

I rode the Tornado Tre 900cc 2 or 3 years back at a company demo during a Motorcycle Exhibition. Beautiful bike/design and an exciting ride. This was their first motorcycle after around two decades and was designed by an Englishman called Adrian something or other, if I remember correctly. Critics (motorcycle journalists from mostly British mags) at the time said the bikes "needed more work to be perfected". I'm not quite sure they knew what they were talking about.
I have seen (never ridden) quite a few TNT's around here, they too are beauts. I would say probably the best looking "street-fighters" in their class. I have no idea about quality issues mentioned.

Thanks Bedouin....for the first hand.....I think I'll trek on the T3 Sprint and take a look at this thing....my big concern is since I have always wanted that "Italian" girlfriend that she would probably be limited to Ducati (which is just fun to say) or the old reliable from Lake Como...a goose,,,,,as we have dealers within a days drive of here .............but Benelli has always had a spot in my heart due to that spunky little Banshee that I later traded for a Mossburge shotgun....

If you are keen on an "italian girlfriend" superbike, I recommend you also check out the Aprilia Mille 1000cc (same group as MG, since you mentioned it). Of all the Italian sportsbikes I have had (including a Ducati 998, my previous mistress), this one is the hottest by far (currently in my stable, along with the SM and an RT1100 BMW tourer), both in "real-world" performance/handling/comfort levels (doesn't kill your wrists) and in terms of reliability. I have the upgraded "Factory" model (shocks/different wheels), but IMO the base model doesn't lack anything, having ridden a few. Both "exotic", "bullet-proof" and very, very fast but still rideable on an "every-day" basis. Did I say fast?

well,,,,it looks like as far as parts availability etc,,,etc,,,etc,,, if I want an Italian girlfriend here in Indian Territory I might have to settle for a Ducati or a Guzzi.......the closest Aprila dealer I could find was in Dallas or up in the cold country in Kansas City.....Maybe I should just get that 1936 Ford Coupe with the rumble seat ? Nope...why go practical when you can go two (2) wheels....Guess I'll keep looking !

I too have lusted after an Italian ride, I always wanted one of those old Ducati V twins. I can't remember what model it was,my friend had it. Supposed to be some kind of collectors item many guys want. I just liked it and it was fun to ride.

Beautiful bikes.Very pricey. If money was not a problem I would take a test ride and get it if I liked it.Got to dream a little.Got an old Guzzi out back, cool old bikes. Not the fastest, but that new Guzzi Grizzo may change a few minds about them with its 110HP.It also looks very nice.Like I said it is good to dream.
