Mike,
Hum... That thread is postulating that a TPS with a dirty potentiometer will send errant data to the ignitor. Disconnecting such a deviant TPS would alleviate the errant data at the minor expense of loss of timing advance during low load (part throttle) situations.
The key is errant data to the computer and the thread says this issue effects only the 270 cranks, intermittently as well.
Who would have thought that the TPS would fail in a way to send errant data to the computer? As opposed to sending either correct data or no data.

I would focus on jojje's answer in that thread. He's done more with the systems on our bikes than anybody else. You can even post to him at his own forum to possibly get more in-depth info. http://stabbarps-auto.com/forum/

Hi John, Long time no talk. I did go back to stock pipes drilled. I am very pleased with what I have right now. Sound and preformace is just about were I want to be. Dont get me wrong, the 32" turnouts are great. Those pipes were very, very popular at the BA.COM 2004 meet. I must have been ask a dozen times at the meet. Where did you get the pipes? You paid how much? No way. Funny though, I see a lot of the same people who were impressed with my pipes buying $500,$600,$700 dollar pipes. I just can't justify that. O' well different strokes. I sold the turnouts to my riding partner (03 America. He is tickled sh**less. Mike

just getting around to reading this. I'v had the same problem for some time with high rpm shutdown. Enquired about this to jjoje and he had no solutions at the time. I'll have to try the tps and report back.

Tryed disconnecting the tps today. I did solve the high rpm shutdown i was having. Returned rev limit back to normal predictable opperation. As for any performance gain I couldnt really tell other than it is a gain when you know when the dam bike is going to hit the rev limit. Before it would shoud down at different rev's after 7000. And not just break up as normal but completely shut off for a few seconds. There must be a problem related to the tps or its settings. With it disconected I havent as yet noticed any adverse effects such as ping, etc.

Also the guys running the cr carbs dont have a choice but to disconnect the sensor as the cr carbs dont have a tps unit on them.
