Just wanted to pass this along: Ok, I get my new Corbin & pillion (MAN am I excited), bolt right it on (it doesn't quite fit, but I think it's gonna work - I got the $20 bolt from Brent, and it seems to seat ok), take off for town - 10 miles of Forest Service road and highway - and the pillion pops loose, flies off into the weeds. I get to town and make the discovery. Ok, I'm feeling pretty stupid about now. Do a very thorough search. Repeat search. Do it again. No pillion, no joy and I'm thinkin - AAAAGH!!! I call Corbin. Tell 'em the story. "What'll it cost me to replace the pillion?" Theron, the sales guy says, "lemme work on this." I call back today, the new one's bein made and they're sending it out no charge... Wow... roadie

Del,
Dang, That's one hoot of a story! Corbin is alright in my book as well. Reminds me to put some locktight on the windscreen bolts! (Last time windscreen was on was back in June. Don't want to but I'm going to put it back on for the Nor'East Rally travel)
Have you figured out why the pillion hopped off? Did the threads strip out for the pillion bolt?

Glad that they have been able to help you, I have sent Corbin a couple of e-mails re my seat and haven't even had an acknowledgement, let alone a positive response!
Guess I am going to have to break out the phone card - anyone got a phone number?

Hi Shaun,
You must be working again, always on the puter!
I've got the invoice in hand and the tele numbers are: Florida 800-223-4332 California 800-538-7035
If you require the numbers (Sales Order, PO#, etc.) let me know. Your account rep was Gabriela Ruiz.
In just over one week I'll be were you where back in August of 2003. Where during a simple session of brewski sampling, "...Dinqua...also showed me how to play 9 ball pool, and I proceeded to whup his A***!! "
Man oh man. The open roads are soon upon me!

Hey Jim
Nah, not working just yet, still trying to reconstruct my CV (resume) and make the two year break look reasonable!
Thanks for the phone numbers, you keep my stuff longer than I do, must be the accountant in you!
Take it easy on the ride up to NY, & when you get there don't be too hard with Dinqua, not sure that he has recovered from having a Limey " whup his A***!! ".
To this day I haven't told him that I used to play in a pub pool team on tables that have tighter pockets that US ones!
Take it easy, hope Lynn is well

That ought to make for some entertaining creative writing! You did move just NW of Northampton though? That's something!
It would be hard not to take it easy on my ride up to NY, as I'm giving myself 5 days to travel a lowly 1800 miles. I can't be too hard on dinqua either, as he would take away my pint and hand me a paint brush! Can't have that while the bitter pours.
Lynn is doing well and says hello. She would have rode with me but for her trip to Costa Rico Oct 1.
Take care.

Lynn is no dummy. That is beautiful country and no smelly bikers. Tell her not to forget her shot glass!

Hey Moe -
Enjoy that ride! And don't forget the locktite on the windscreen! To respond to your q @ how my pillion might've hopped off - the fit was just a bit off so I was trying to get the bracket to line up and may have cross threaded the pillion bolt.
Nobby - Do give the Corbin folks a call - worked for me!

That pillion bolt is a PIA.... I am on my third one with the luggage rack now installed instead of the pillion. Enough threads protrude below the weldnut in the fender for it to corrode and bugger the threads when you attempt to remove it. My second one snapped off, it was so corroded underneath. I drilled it out, chased the threads, and installed a chrome allen head bolt in it's place with a dab of loctite. Then I reached up under the fender and smeared anti-sieze on the exposed threads. Quite a bit of work for such a minor piece of hardware....

Good customer service story Roadie, I think you ought to consider parking your BA closer to syphylization and commuting forth and back on some sort of cheapo dirt bike?
