Insurance adjuster called me friday. Says my 02 America is only worth 4 thousand in her book (NADA) Kelly blue book says 48 hundred. The banks book says 48 hundred. She is willing to write me a check for 4 thousand and they keep the bike. I can't replace it for that amount (only has 17 thousand miles) She'll call me back with a salvage price if I want to buy it back. Still, I think she is lowballing me with her estimate. My dealer suggests that I prove it is worth more by getting copies of sales reciepts from people who have bought a 02 triumph this year. Any help or suggestions from you all?

This may not help you out but maybe someone else. I have accessories insurance on top of my full coverage. costs me 24 bucks a year extra and replaces EVERYTHING that gets damaged thats not stock. Paint, bags, chrome goodies, grips, whatever. If I ever use it once, which I hope I dont, it paid for itself. I had to inquire about it, as he may not have told me otherwise, but its something for everyone to look into.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Watching Ebay I have not seen many go for that price....closer to 4200 as an average probably. While I agree its worth the 4800 if in mint condition from what I have seen (someone chime in if I am wrong).....the bikes dont seend to go for that high. Good luck and I hope the salvaege price is low.

When logged in & doing an ebay search, over on the left of the screen and down a little bit is a check box for "Completed listings," which shows end of auction results with pricing.
I have no idea what the ebay market brings for Triumphs as compared to a national average. When considering the sale of a car last year, the best I ever saw was a wholesale price.

Not to be a wet blanket but I think 4k for a 6 year old bike with 17,000 on the clock is a fair number.
We see 04-06 models going for not that much more right here on the board don't we? Moe paid less than that I think.

Make absolutely sure you mention all of the non original items on the bike and try and get some money for them. Most policies will have a customer added equipment clause.

Try and push them a bit more or ask if you can take off any of the extras you had on the bike that are still good . Because i reckon they book price the bike no mater what extras are fitted. You can then fit them to your new bike or sell them to get a bit more cash. I did this once with a top cd player i had in a car . You can only try. They can only say no.You cant lose as they have aready put a price to you. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, all. I really appreciate the input. I think that I will try and buy the bike for a salvage price if it is reasonable and fix it up myself. I really like the bike and I couldn't get one as good as I could fix it for the same money. Two things I will absolutely need though, are a new tank and front fender. I'll wait for the money to come through before I look for those.

Too bad I just saw a tank and fender custom kit on Ebay yeaterday. It was the kit with the American flag on both sides of the tank. It was at $250 when I saw it I think.

Yeah, they always lowball you. Never accept their first offer.
You have to negotiate a settlement with them. They won't let you know that you can though.
Best tactic, tell them you want to see how they arrived at their figure. They'll do some song and dance about figuring market value based on what the bikes are selling for combined with bank values, etc. Ask where the bike that is comparable to yours that you can buy for 4,000 dollars is so you can buy it.
They'll raise their offer just to get rid of you. Of course like Ron says, don't expect too much. It is six years old.
