D&D Cycles claims there's no problem using pump gas with their 12:1 kit. I would guess you would need to burn premium for sure. I opted for the 10.5:1 kit and have been burning mid grade with no problem. Also, I knew the standard kit would give me all the power I wanted. Personally, I think a 12:1 is high for a street bike.
