Hello Folks,
I just signed up here seeking info on Triumphs. I ride an antique Sportster and really want to get a modern bike. I think new Harleys are too expensive and Hondas a little boring. The Speedmaster and America really caught my eye. I took a short ride on a '07 Speedmaster and can't get it off my mind. I'm searching the net for used bikes before I bite the bullet for a new one in the spring. A question I'd lke to ask of you folks is, how many miles for the money? I found a '05 America for $5675 with over 13,000 miles on it. Sounds not bad to me. How many miles do these bikes generally get before you have to take em' apart? And does anyone have one for sale for that matter? I'm in Pennsylvania. Thanks

That's often how the obsession begins.

I have 37.5k on my bike and it's barely broken in. Several other people have a lot more trouble-free miles than that. I'm sure they'll chime in.

There are guys out there over 100,000 on them. There are members here over 50,000. I have over 15,000 and love mine and no signs of trouble or wear.

You mean these Triumph engines can be taken apart. Wow, ive never heard of such things.

Sorry, Crowbar.....just messing with ya. These are very robust motorcycles. Go on, bite the bullet. You wont regret it.

You should be able to find a better price on a used one. I did ($5500 with 3600 miles and lots of extras) by being patient and going 250 miles to get it. Then had a great ride home!

+1 on the above!!

Look around and be a little patient and you can find one in the same price range with very low miles on it. I've seen many for sale in the 5-6K range with less than 5,000 miles on them over the past few years.

I got my '02 in Sept of '04 for a fire sale price because the guy was moving and didn't have a place to keep it....
$4,750 with only 136 miles on it!!! No extras for that price but I've had time to add my own since then.
