I remember as a kid, aged about about seven, we were playing 'Cowboys and Indians' over at a friends house, who's bedroom was in the process of being decorated.

He said he would show us his partly decorated room but told us that under no circumstances were we to switch on the light. He said that it didn't have a bulb in it and if we did switch it on the electricity would escape and make us all incurably ill.

He said that the army would come in a tank and take us out into the desert where we would be tied to a stake and left for the Indians to torture us to death.

Obviously in the days before the lethal injection was an option.....

What's yours ?

That the bigger kids across the street fed a kitten and M-80 wrapped in bolagna and the thing blew up all over the street.

And my dad had a Bull skull hanging out on a tree in the backyard and he told me it was the devils skull and he killed him with his bare hands...haha

I told a guy once that the "gumballs" atop police cars had to turn clockwise by state statute. If they turned counterclockwise you weren't required to stop. However if you view a squad car via your rear view mirror, things are backwards, so right become left and up becomes down. I think that might be true.

You guys know Wendy and I have a childrens toy business. Well one little boy bought a punching balloon and when he opened it the rubber band to hold onto was missing. We gave him another one but I had the kid convinced the air in it was special air and he had to get that air from the one to the other. The look on his face was priceless! Wendy let him off the hook after about a min.

When I was a young lad I planted a watermelon seed in the flower bed of my home. A week later I left with my family
to vacation in Boston for 2 weeks. When we returned the was 2ft long watermelon right were I planted the seed.
It was the coolest thing that I grew a watermelon

It was about year or so later that I found out that my uncle had placed it there just before we returned

When I was around 13yrs old, there was a song that came out called "Roller Coaster". I think it was from the Ohio Players. Anyway, you hear a lady screaming in the background at one point, and it was said that she was in the recording room being stabbed to death by her boyfriend while they were recording the song. Of course, the obvious truth was that they wanted to record people in the background screaming. It was, after all, a song named "Roller Coaster". But can't believe I (and a lot of other schoolmates) fell for the story - at least for awhile.

I told my grandma (who was from Germany) when I was seven that she needs to try these crackers because they had lots of vitamins and it would be good for her. She took one and ate it. Little did she know that I gave her a Milkbone Dog Biscuit.... LOL

No me but my dad's neighbor -
Every year he and my dad would have this little contest to see who would get the first red tomato in their gardens. My dad saw that he was losing the race so he'd go over to the guys garden in the evening and pick the ones the neighbor had that were beginning to change. He let them rippen 'off the vine' and then offered then to the neighbor as being extras from our garden. Seems simple and a bit dorky but it was and remains a hoot to me. Guess maybe ya gotta be a country boy to get it.

When I was little, my older sister used to tell me that she & my parents (and most of humanity) lived in caves before I was born. Eventually they evolved to a treehouse and then a house shortly after I was born.

Also, when we would go out for ice cream, she would always say hers tasted "funny" and wanted to see what mine tasted like. Of course, I fell for it every time.

30 years later my sister still likes to tell stories, unfortunately they're not as harmless as they once were.

I wasn't a gullible little girl, but I could be a mean big sister.
I had my little sister and her friends convinced for years that we had an uncle who was buried in the unfinished side of the basement (so that I would have a good place to hide for hide and seek).....our heater in that house made a lot of noise at night, so I told her that the thumping was a robot that was trying to climb up the stairs every night to get us.

I'll never forget the day,
I give my girlfriend a present and card that says "Happy 19th Birthday"
Then she tells me it's really her 18th.

Reminds me of the bars in Germany - just cause she's in the bar drinking more than you can, and just cause she looks 18 and asks to go home with you, and just cause she says she's 18....doesn't mean she's 18.
I had a close call one time. I was actually about to walk out the door with this well endowed girl that looked about 23 when the barmaid (a dear friend of mine) said hey Rex you're not taking her home are you, did she tell you how old she is?
So finally after a 5 minute discussion where she swore she was "old enough", she finally let me see her ausweis, and she was really 15.

Well, this was in the news, so it has to be true doesn't it? There was a news item in the Stars and Stripes in Germany in 1961 0r maybe '62 about a traffic accident in Esslingen that knocked down a power pole. "Broken power lines give off elecries which can be very dangerous if touched". So, if you ever see an elecry don't touch it, you never know what it might do.

(hey...I NEVER said I was all that quick on the ol' uptake, now did I?!...it usually takes me a little while to catch on to some stuff, ya know)

I used to teach high school science and when students would ask to borrow my pencils, I'd tell them they were left-handed pencils. Then with a straight face I'd explain how they were made. My left-handed pencils were famous.
