I finally got all the gear I need to be able to tell the freezing tempratures to GFY I'm not done riding this year. So this morning at a temprature of 30 degrees I get on the bike and make it 15 minutes down the road before I have to turn around. The Visor on my full face helmet would fog up to the point of me being blind and no matter how many times I wiped it off it kept fogging up. I was just wondering if any one had any expierence with different anti-fog type products or other suggestions to help me out so that I can continue riding this winter.

These actually work. Just apply a thin coating on the inside and outside of your visor once every 3 days or so. They're called Fog-Be-Gone by Magic Safety. I just snag some from work whenever I need them. They're cheap to buy though...somewhere like $10-15 for a box of 100.

I use this stuff, Zooke.

I've got the spray, drops and the paste. Works well and you have to apply it maybe once a week.

I bought a Scorpion Helmet. The shields are anti-fog.

I can tell you not to buy the Rain X anti-fog stuff. Doesn't seem to work for me.

Generally when I stop at a light or going slow, I'll open the visor to keep it from fogging up. When I'm moving it's not a problem, enough air gets in to keep it clear.

The visor I can deal with, my bigger problem is my glasses fogging up. Even my "climate control" Wiley X glasses fog up - the problem is I wear a face mask on cold days and my breath will escape out the top of the mask right into the glasses. It's been so bad I have to lower my glasses a bit at lights or when going slow. Luckily, my eye sight isn't too bad, so I'm not "blind" when I take them off.

My new HJC helmet has an anti-fog shield, and it works. It's probably the most redeeming quality the helmet has....

Ya big poof - get an open faced lid like a real man!!

Failing that, I have heard some good things about this . Be warned, it does mean drilling holes in the visor, so I think you would need this in all the time.

Cheers

I put in an order for the Fog-be-gone wipes, I got them for $8 and change (no shipping, no tax) for the box of 100 and for that price I couldn't afford to not try them.

If I'm not too satisfied with them I'll keep moving up the price spectrum until I find something I'm happy with. Thanks for the help

The best part about those fog-be-gone things is when it's pouring rain, wipe a bit on the inside of your visor a few minutes before you head out, and make sure you let it dry. No fog on the inside at all.

When the fog is really thick, it will condense on your visor instead of fogging it up, which can be a pain, but I guess it's better than fogging up.

Try rubbing washing-up liquid or shaving foam onto the inside of your visor.

I put the Fog City Proshield insert on my shield. It does cut out cold morning fogging up on the inside of my visor, but I have had problems with distortion on slightly overcast days. Also, it seems to scratch very easily, leading to more distortion. Leaving the NY Rally, I had to rip it off and throw it away about at hour into the ride home because of the distortion problems. I think I'm going to try the stuff Mark is using.

If you have a diving/snorkling supplier's near you I've had great results with Sea Drops. It's the stuff divers use to stop their masks misting...it works on visors and glasses.

Not sure if there are any hockey players on here but I use shampoo. I have tried almost every anti fog product and nothing, I mean nothing, works as well as a little shampoo.

But I have never tried it on a cycle helmet, fortunately I have a HJC visor on my full face that is anti-fog. But if shampoo works in a cold hockey rink with a massive amount of body heat & sweat I am sure it will work on your brain bucket.

Just put a quarter size worth on a clean cloth and massage it on to the visor and wipe clean. The key is to not use too much. Just enough to create a clear coat.

Ceuls

PS, it smells great too!

I have those Shaun, really good stuff. A boiling kettle won't steam them up.

All I have to worry about is my spectacles steaming now

Another check for the Scorpions. The only time I thought it was failing me turned out to be freezing fog on the outside, still clear once it was scraped off!
