Bar Owner. Left the U.K. after selling up the pub we had run for a couple of years and moved to Spain. We've bought a shop that we are having refitted out as a bar/cafe.

I worked at a casino/race track for the past 14 years as director of technical operations (A/V, computers, networks and anything that plugged in). Just left in January and started a new job monday as a project manager for an A/V company installing pro audio rooms and nurse call systems.

Nope, in that case, he got it right. A lot of trucking companies have different, less publicized, names. My OL drove for about 12 years, so I learned some of them.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if any of the loud mouths I read here from time to time could even get close to passing the CDL test. Truck drivers deliver the goods, you should be proud.

Coming from a guy who drivs a 4-wheeler 60k/year, over-the-road drivers are about the only ones I trust out there with my safety. I keep a CB in the car and it's usually on. Monday, in the East coast weather, some truckers heading South saved me hours of waiting on snow covered roads. I diverted to NJ, where a 25 mile back-up on 78 awaited me. That too was averted due to a friendly truck driver. (I was glad to make it home yesterday!)

I got a complaint through work...this bloke who's dad had died...I'd thrown him off.
AFTER.....
He'd sworn at me several times, used his phone in the quiet coach (the one where he's not suopposed to) and he was shouting down it, and when I'd asked politely for him not to he'd igniored me. He then threatened one of my colleagues with a physical assault, and had a station manager (one who doesn't mnormally get involved with these kinda things)threw him off the station.
Oh and he was drunk, contrary to Railway Byelaw 5.
But I get the bollocking...

My brother and I owned & operated a small trucking company for the past 30 years, hauling primarily petroleum, dry bulk, and flat beds. I left in June, after 30 years of wondering in the back of my mind if today was the day we would cause significant bodily harm, death, or extensive waterway pollution due to a vehicle mishap. In November, my brother decided he'd had enough, and shut the thing down.
I recently took a job as an estate caretaker, and since it's Winter, when there isn't any estate work to do, I work as a grunt / gopher with the crew restoring a late 1700s farm house on the property. I'm on the move almost all the time, and should be able to shed years of desk bound inspired baby fat along the way. I LOVE the job. Instead of a daily 23 hours of taking calls such as "I backed into a brand new Lexus," or "I'm in back alley Newark and have a flat tire" or "It's 2 am and I'm stuck on the ice going up a hill on I 90" my worst day now should be "I ran out of gas for the lawn mower and have to go get more." At 16:30 or whatever, I walk away from the job, and go home. I don't have to bring the job home and be on call via cell phone 24/7 like before. I'm Lovin' it.

I own / operate half of a small health care IT consulting company. We provide system integration / custom programming services to biopharmaceutical companies, physician practices, hospitals, other health care service companies and lately to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). Started the company in 1999 and have not looked back.
Edited to point out that my CDC contract is a sub-contract through....

Biggest responsibility is arranging and running all the State Soccer Championships in the State for Boys and Girls ages U11 thru U19. (Club teams, not High Schools)
Basically i get paid to watch soccer.
Looks like this may be coming to an end. Found out last friday that the Board of Directors are looking onto relocating our office to the Nashville area. This job does not pay enough to commute, and relocating the family is out of the question.
Needless to say I am not happy

Carpenter, ameteur electrician and plumber. If you have something wrong with your house, me or my helper can fix it! I've also been a High school social studies teacher and I'm getting tired of fixing things for all these years, so I'm actively looking for some kind of social work I can get into. Basically, I just really like helping people, which is why I really appreciate all the nice people here helping me!

I am a teacher but Iv stumbled upon a more intersting work... I work at an institution for youths. Its something in between a psychiatric institution and a prison. We call it "a locked youth home". The treatment is very humane, no isolation cells and stuff. I am one of thoes lucky ppl who can say "I love my work" and mean it. Hope that lasts.
Not much of a mekanic, glad I found this site.
