Have just put some staintune pipes on my 2005 and am making some adjustments (snorkel shortning, 135 jets etc) My delema is that I would like to adjust or check the pilot idle screws but cannot find them. I have a sneeky suspicion that they are under the plugs facing out from the side of carb. Am i right or if I pull one will I just have a gaping hole in the side of my carbs. Any help would be appreciated....Thanx

Here's a picture of its location from Dinqua's site:

Pilot Adjustment

For '05 CVK's you'll need to fabricate or buy a D-Tool to make the adjustment. Do a search for D-Tool on this type for manufacturing ideas or links or check-out the following link:

What i did as many others have is to made a D tool by taking something like a .22 shell and bending one side flat. It won't work well, but it will allow you to get the screws out so you can slot them for use with a regular screwdriver. then i took a small screwdriver and cut it down very short to get in there easily. The .22 shell was just an axample, but something similar is what worked for me. Just some hollow tube that was part of a TV cable connector or something. Whatever you use it just has to work well enough to get the screws out once so you can slot them. I did this because D tools are about 20 bucks plus shipping, and if you lose it theres another 20. i'd just rather have it adjustable with a regular tool as it should be.

Carb pulling is not necessary. Pilot on right sight is easily accesible. I find it easyier to get at it on the left side after disconnecting the two electical leads at the bottom of the carb.

I'm running TOR longs with modified airbox (snorkel removed, hole drilled in bottom of box/air filter and running 3 turns out on the mixture screws to significantly reduce popping. Also have the stock 120 jets. If I feel it's necessary to open the mixture screws anymore, I'll rejet then. So far I'm happy at my elevation.

Regards,
