Happy Veteran's Day- today or tomorrow, whenever you celebrate and receive your due honors.
Thank you for all that you do and have done, and for what defines you as men and women.

Thank You to all veterans for making sacrifices , and especially the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to preserve freedoms and liberties worldwide . Thank a veteran . Fix a soldiers' washing machine or family car while they are deployed , it's hard to be a single parent ,
do what you can to help their families here at home , we OWE it to them .

Yes, thanks to all those who have and are serving.

The other day I discovered that not only am I veteran, but somewhere along the way I became a nostalgic old veteran. My daughters school put on a veterans day assembly with a lot of patriotic music by the band / orchestra and chorus. I kept welling up and running over through the whole thing. Looking around though, I was certainly not alone.

Thom I might be wrong, I sometimes am.

Here's a really good Op-Ed piece about Frank Buckles, one of the last three surviving vets from WWI Frank Buckles in the NY Times

I echo the thanks to our veterans from whom freedom flows

Yup, I can tell where you're coming from. I've discovered that as I have gotten older I too have become more patriotic. I miss the Air Force and what I did while in. I notice our flag flying, and I have a new found respect for the fallen heros of today.

Although I am not a supporter of "Mr." Bush, I definetly support our troops and wish they will all come home safely.

Thanks to all of you that appreciate us Vets, believe me, we do appriciate you!

I'll tell you ...there are some tough old vets around. Within the greater Phoenix area one of our very active PGR members lost his wife to a car that pulled out in front of her bike just a few days ago. Nonetheless he is , despite his grief, actively volunteering his time for Veterans day parade activities with the PGR in Phoenix Arizona.

The level of personal character and the strength of the human spirit never ceases to amaze me.

Way to get a political snag into thanking our vets. Very typical!

----------------------------------------------------------

I make a point of thanking all of the vets I know when I see them around this time of year. I have a machinist and a lab technician working on my team as well as myself that served in the US Navy and another tech that served in the US Army. I feel very grateful to all veterans as all of our freedoms are a gift from those that serve. Thank you all from the depths of my heart and soul.

Since Veteran's Day was first meant to commemorate those who served in WWI...

Tis a reflective day here, lost 3 WWII veterans out of my family over the course of the past year. They made me a better person. Thanks to anyone who served anytime, anywhere, be it war or peace time service.

Oh, and Thanks for the address.

I post this every year it seems, because it epitomizes what it means to me to be a veteran. It's from Shakespeare's 'Henry V' and it is the speech from which we received the term 'Band of Brothers'

Enter the KING
WESTMORELAND. O that we now had here
But one ten thousand of those men in England
That do no work to-day!

KING. What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Happy Veterans Day my Band of Brothers!
