Many probably know this, but since I love to talk Blues...
Guy was a wild man guitarist in his early days, utilizing feedback, playing the strings with his guitar cord, so on and so forth. The recording industry as a big business back then was created to distribute selections such as "White Christmas," and so, Guy in his yute-hood days could not get signed as his music was too wild and unconventional. Lucky for us he hung in there, for the world almost didn't get to hear Buddy Guy.
Fast forward a few years -- If it weren't for Guy and his early guitar style, let's just say it's likely the Jimi Hendrix we knew and love may well have been quite a different cat altogether.
Got to see Guy from 5th row center (until the ticket holders showed up) at a Blues festival. Oh - my - Lord. When he had us at a near frenzy, he ripped into "Voodoo Chile" then stopped abruptly half way through the song, laughing heartily. What did that mean? I don't know, but I've never seen another electric Blues Man with the power and might he has.
