Why is Triumph not going to be at the NY show?
As stated, TRIUMPH feels it's money is better spent sponsoring Rat Raids, and bringing the demo truck to the individual dealers, where real deals can and will be made, rather than participating in the traveling show that really could cost a company a bundle in wasted brochures, printing costs, and other overhead. You know how it is - you really get the itch to buy somehting and then after going home and cooling off a bit, your chances of actually buying something diminish somewhat. You ride a nice bike at a dealership, and the price is right - if you are 1/2 way serious about buying something you will do it then. I doubt that Yamaha or Kawasaki sell a whole lot of bikes just because someone rode one at the Motorcylce Show.
Triumph sells all it can produce, so they can keep the marketing expenses in line, and take care of the dealer network without costing themselves business by not being at the SHOW.
My dealer was at the show with a booth - maybe the only Triumph booth there. He is a big VANSON Leather distributor, and sells SCHWINN scooters, too, so he had a lot of that merchandise there, albeit a very crowded little space he had. It was good to see him there, and good that he saw me, too.
