The Triumph adapter is indeed a BMW style plug but you can get a BMW to car adapter for it from many sites.
The battery gauge that Martin linked to is probably a good idea. FastEddy sells them and several members here have them for use on the bike when they have alot of things plugged in. I plan on getting one for the bike soon.
