Interesting topic, having had my speedmaster in the dealers 3 times now for cutting out they have basically told me off for::
The rev limiter is NOT there for you to hit all the time, it is there in case you miss a gear as it will stop the engine from getting damaged.
After I jetted my carbs I was hitting the rev limiter in 1st to 4th gears regular... Triumph went mad saying Im riding the bike too hard and should change it for a sports bike.
Anyway, the fact that by the 3rd / 4th gear was hitting the limiter my bike would completly cut out, like I had hit the kill switch, this happed once on an overtake and I crapped myself as a lorry was heading straight for me and another as I came off a round a bout.. I now have to ride my bike more sedately, to the point I dont realy want to be on it anymore.
