So far everything mentioned will work just fine. Once the mung is gone be sure to clean all of the residue off the pipe and follow with some kind of chrome polish so you don't burn on a new blemish. My choice would be WD-40 on a rag, wiped clean and dried with a clean rag followed by a thourough buffing with Wenol. Everybody has their faves...
