Be VERY careful not get any Easy-Off spray on the paint or blacked parts of the engine. It will discolor painted surfaces.
Sometimes you can heat up the pipes and wipe some or most plastic or boot rubber off with a rag. The Easy Off will take care of the rest. Rub it out with Blue-Job and they will be good as new.
I've used a little gasoline on a rag to remove road tar and other junk from my pipes. (not when they're hot) There's probably better stuff to use. Acetone might work, but I've never tried that.
