To all interested (worldwide)... it's showtime again. The 2008 Euro-Rally next year will take place in Northern Italy from Friday August 1st to Sunday the 3rd (or 4th if you want to stay another night). Put this in your calendars. I have a few locations/venues in mind spread between Como, Lecce/Mandello del Lario (Moto Guzzi factory area) and Lake Garda (see map). I am planning to visit them in November/December to check them out again. An idea of numbers will be welcomed so that I have a better idea when visiting. Any member wishing to join me on the recon trip please feel welcome. Regional map ... ... and more specifically: For those interested, an indication of some of the distances to Milan are as follows (taken from Sonymap Route Planner - Europe): Calais - Milan 1093 km / 679 miles. London-Milan 1.257 km / 781 miles. Knivsta - Milan. 2091 km / 1.300 miles. Gdansk to Milan. 1549 km / 962 miles. Bielefeld to Milan. 977 km / 607 miles Athens to Milan. 2102 km We have received the following commitments from various contacts: Triumph - Greece. They will be supplying us with a comprehensive list of spare parts for our bikes (in case of emergency etc.). At the moment they include: CDI, coils, throttle/clutch cables, battery, light bulbs and fuses. Any other items someone may think necessary - please advise so that they can be added. Peroni Breweries. A contact there has pledged 300-350 Nastro Azzurro beers - free of charge. De Agostini have pledged up to 50 very elegant pieces from their collection (hopefully engraved) as souvenirs for all attending members - again free of charge. I have contacted Moto Guzzi (yesterday) to see if we could perhaps visit the factory (or at least the museum) on the Saturday ride. I foresee two problems though. 1/ Factories close in August in Italy and 2/ It is on a weekend. Anyhow let's see what they have to say if/when they get back to me. We can always pop down to Monza for a quick race around the track. Further info (venue details) following recon trip. Who's in?
Bedouin.

It's the distance calculated by Sonymap Route Planner from Knivsta to Milan. I didn't use Autoroute because it doesn't feature some Balkan countries (e.g. Macedonia and Serbia) and took me the long way round (almost via Tokyo) . It would be great to see you again.

He!! I just wanna go on the recon trip with you let alone do the rally. I will again definitely have to investigate the possibility of attending again. It all depends on the time off I need to take for riding back here. I have this crazy idea of wanting to ride up to the arctic circle or something in the June'ish timeframe and me and Wojo had discussed a New Foundland trip at some point. We'll have to see how things go. Would really like to meet and hang with our European brethren.
Ride On!

Recently emigrated from the U.K. to Spain and had to bring the bikes down to the new villa. 2090 km's on the BA...flew back to the U.K. .....one nights sleep, got on the wife's bike and did the same 2090 km's again. One week later, got into my car and drove the same 2090 km's, then flew back....and on the day the final move was planned the wife flew over, the furniture went in a van.....and I drove the wife's car down, another 2090 km's !!!! 1600 km's will be a walk in the park !!! Will definitely try and make this one !!!!

Yes, it seems it's the only way to do "The long way west" ... unless I can come up with another way (via Moscow perhaps?).

And so have I.
It'll take a bit of sorting...and we're goin to have to be extremely nice to the Grandparents for several months, failing that I'll have to try and find a leather papoose! Never say never

Also suggested it to the wife as well as we watched Ewan and Charley do what I think would be the same route to Milan, lake Como and the Guzzi factory lastnight on long way down. seems to have taken them two days to get that far but I guess they where waiting for the two 4X4s and the helpers and the doctor etc.
