A few random observations:
- Some of these boxes - like the ones from the triumph sprint that snekepet has mounted seem to be very heavy duty fiberglass. Others are lighter construction.
- Givi makes two classes of luggage - monolock are less expensive and lighter duty than monokey but still quite sturdy.
- My Givi E450 (monolock) came with a plate that bolts to the luggage rack. The box snaps onto the plate and locks with the same key that opens the box.
- Mine doesn't hold as much as you might think - Rounded corners rob some space and the way it opens on the centerline means you don't fill the whole thing - kind of like your gas tank. So far it's been fine though.
- They do make your bike look fat but maybe that's ok. I find a bike with the trunk on it has much more visual mass from the rear - kind of like a light bar in front.
- I think you get a little buffeting and turbulence from them - especially when empty.
This may sound a bit negative and I don't mean it to - it's great! The biggest advantage over the soft tail bag I was using before is that it's securely waterpoof and it pops off and on very easily - way better than messing around with bungee cords in the dark.
