Two weeks ago my 17 year old daughter totaled out my wife's car coming back from a high school football game. We still owe more than the market value. That is going to make it fun dealing with the insurance co. Last night going to the football game I nailed a nice 8 pointer with my Jeep Cherokee. The sad part is I just dropped full coverage insurance I am running out of rides at a fast rate Can you tell I am bummed out right now But the good news is that was the last game of the season.

Dang Al,

I'm getting leery about logging in this place. Bent metal can be repaired, I presume all are OK.

With 3 kids worth of crash history and a wife who drives
like she's in an eternal Baja race,
(with an assortment of all weather carrier landings thrown in for good measure,)
I have a hefty tome over at CLUE.
CLUE even went so far as to record a $0 claim
that I fixed with a screw driver handle as a dolly.

Funny, none of the claims are mine,
but yet I pay the higher premiums associated with the loss runs,
even though the kids are no longer on the policy.

I feel lucky my 18 yo daughter shows no interest in even getting a drivers lic. the other is out of the house and on her own insurance and the third is at college without a car ...... Sorry to hear about the troubles, trust everyone is OK.

Ya know Warren, I'm thinkin' Al might just be interested in a trade here.

I'll bet cha at the very least, for that 18 y/o non-driver o' yours, he'd trade ya one 17 y/o driver, one set of stock Triumph mufflers, a set o' those gawdawful passenger footpeg holders, AND two draft picks to be named later!!!

(BTW...don't forget my agent fees of 10%....and, as I've already removed those ugly footpeg holders from my BA years ago, and thus have them taking up space in my garage already, I WON'T accept those as payment!!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Everybody is fine, but I didn't even get the deer. I was in a rural area and tried to make to the gas station up the road about a mile. I didn't make it to the station and buy the time I got back to where the deer was someone had already taken care of it for me. OH, and Dwight, if it was a 5% fee you might have a client.

It's a blassing our 20 yr old daughter hasn't. I tried to teach her to drive a few times and it is a scary proposition. She can't get the idea of what way to turn the wheel to go the direction you want. She hasn't made it out of our yard yet.

Al,
Don't know if it applies there, but here in NY if you hit a deer it is covered by comphrrehensive insurance and not collision. Of course the insurance companies will not tell you this so you need to ask specifically, then they have to tell you. my X mo-in-law hit a deer, destroyed her car with no collision coverage. Then 3 months later I asked her if she had comp, yes she did, called the insurance company and lo and behold, had a $3k check a week later. They were a little PO'd (why is it PO'd anyway and not P'd O???) but paid right up once they got caught.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Same here, I have a vehicle for her when she wants one.. will let her get her own insurance. I will help pay for it, but if she does something bad then it's not on mine.

I presume that everyone was ok in your little 'misadventures'
