The wear you have is normal. If you want Dream Catcher to really stop , learn to use the front brake. An empty mall parking lot is my favorite practice spot. Don't jerk the lever, squeeze it like you're firing a pistol and smoothly apply more pressure.
Not using the front brake is like having a right hand like George Foreman and only jabbing with the left in a fight. You're not using your stongest weapon.
