"Kawasaki has unveiled a new addition to its stacked 2008 roster – the mid-sized Versys."

Is the guy who wrote this article a journalist or a historian?

The bike has been on the road around a year now.

Cat,

Nice bike (in its category) and looks much better close-up.
There are quite a few around this part of the world and it looks like it will be successful.

This is the first year they're available in the U.S.

I got interested in one after I read about it on WebBikeWorld.com , it got a very good review from them.

After that I went down to a local dealer and took a look at one. Good looking bike (well, once you get used to that headlight) and I fit on it good. Similar riding position to the Triumph Tiger, if that's something that interests you.

Just yesterday I was reading owner impressions on Adventure Rider. And Here

I'd really like to buy a 2nd bike next year if it's in the financial cards. My first choices are going to be Sprint and Tiger, but I plan on taking a close look at this as well since the price is attractive. I may wait to see if the rumored Tiger Cub becomes a reality.

Looks like a nice bike for less than $7000!

Yes I understand, but the historian made it sound like it was "breaking news" on the model.

I agree with you about the headlight, a bit strange but something I guess one gets used to.
A bit MV Agusta Brutale-ish.

It also looks like the bike can be easily modified to play different roles e.g. all-round commuter, supermotard and even semi-adventure bike with the right mods (the power/weight is good ).

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

It's a shame that they stopped making the tube-frame SV650.
The new cast one, even if it's stronger (which it didn't need) looks too clunky.

Ah the SV650 - the first bike ma boy totalled after two weeks riding !

It wasn't his fault, the car driver was running a red light and was uninsured.

i don't like the sv 650 riding postion, so i'm hoping the versys is a little more upright.
also, reading the reviews, seems like the versys might have a more versatile suspension. plus i like the parallel twin... i have 3.
