Not so easy, the filter is located at the inlet tube that connects the two carbs (at the base of the fuel line between the carbs). A very long needlenose and patience are required as is tank removal. The I used a metal Wix inline filter (#33027 from O'Reillys), it's a metal can and not too clunky looking between the carbs. There's a much sexier looking K&N in the tech vault . Doesn't take much contamination to make the weeny little filter not work so good. filter picture courtesy ssjones
