I wouldn't wait, there are some advantages to carburettors that can't be matched.
1. Carbs have fewer parts than the fuel system, so they have fewer things that can go wrong.
2. Being pure mechanical systems, most carb problems can be easily fixed. Many can be fixed on the roadside. Fuel injection, on the other hand, is mostly electronic. If it breaks you are SOL.

You will probably be happier in the long run if you don't wait.
